WHAT A WEEKEND! That about sums it up. This past Sunday was the Meet in the Middle up in Solvang and a few of us decided to make a weekend trip out of it. We left Orange County at 8am Saturday morning and pulled into Refugio State Beach just around 11. There was no problem finding a spot big enough for 3 buses so we went ahead and set-up camp and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon. If you haven’t been to this campsite, it’s definitely one you NEED to see. Great layout, large campsites, clean bathrooms and right on the water. What more can you ask for?? Sunday we took our time breaking down camp, eating some breakfast and heading out around 10am. The drive is about 25 minutes up the 101, but before we knew it were had arrived at the Meet in the Middle. The show was already packed with VWs stuffed into every corner. I was told there were over 200 cars, which after 10 years running is the largest turnout they have had. As the afternoon slowed down, a few of us headed into Solvang to grab a Danish and take in the sites. We eventually ended up at Pea Soup Andersen’s for some dinner, and around 5:30 we were back on the road heading home to Orange County. It was just a nice mellow laid back weekend with great people and cool cars. I’m hoping this will become a yearly tradition for West Coast Bays, so those who couldn’t make it better mark their calendar now
